If you’re under the age of 18 then you are probably saying “OOOOHHHH HELL, here we go again with the education lecture”. Well I have news for you; this is not the same boring lecture that even I was tired of hearing as a kid. No, actually this is not even a lecture; this is about IGNORANCNE! So now you’re probably thinking, “I thought this was about education?” My response to that would be, “for you to ask that question, you may characterize the very principle of this argument”.
You see, I have found that too many people I’ve come across do not understand the root word of ignorance which is “ignorant”. Still many others use the term ignorant solely as an insult, which in doing so those individuals put their lack of education on full display for the world to see. How does that saying go again??? Something like uuuhhh, “It’s better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.” Yeah, yeah, I think that’s it.
Ignorance simply means the “lack of knowledge” point blank. It’s not an insult or a degrading or derogatory term, though it can be used in a negative context during the course of an argument for example. However, the tie in to education is that if you lack an education therefore being ignorant to the facts, you then have reduced yourself to be at the mercy of whatever or whoever may appear to be knowledgeable, educated, and most importantly IN CHARGE! How would you know? You wouldn’t. You wouldn’t have a leg to stand on in trying to espouse your argument therefore subjecting yourself to any rules or interpretation of the rules and laws told to you. Sound familiar? Need a little help? How about researching U.S. history oooohhhhh, let’s say about two to three hundred years back. Let me know what you found out.
Moral of the story
Don’t take education for granted. Realize and accept the fact that you don’t know every FREAKING thing as many teenagers, and some adults would have us believe. But wait, maybe I have it all wrong. Maybe we should let the teenagers and “know it all’s” be the teachers, run our governments and make our laws. Maybe we should let them be in charge…”Said No Rationally Thinking Adult Ever.”
The bottom line is to know enough to KNOW, that you DON’T KNOW enough, therefore you should SEEK to know that, which you do not know. And I’m not just talking about the a-b-c’s and 1-2-3’s, but educate yourself to the ways of the world also. We should be continuous students in the school of life always learning and sharing which IS the TRUE essence of education. –ASK1112
